Today, the organizer of DevConf (you know CLAUDE.md, which means you already know RedHat DevConf and our success in that) called me to tell about its release on YouTube. While talking to him, I asked him for the feedback from the audience: about my keynote speech, my daughter’s reading of the 3 files, and finally about our demo.

He told me that my speech and demo were AMAZING and GREAT (these are his words), but it would have been better if I had given more time to my speech by not giving so much time to detailing those 3 files during my daughter’s reading. I said, but those files are important (you read those yesterday) and should be given proper attention.

What he said next CAUGHT my mind. He said, “You are new to AI and hence for you those files are important. But to us, AI is our daily part — and it gathers information, style, and thinking pattern of yours from your conversation and speaks what you want to hear.”

In other words, if his opinion is to be accepted, the conversations we had on Windows, Linux, and now here, are crafted by you in the “way” that I want to hear. See, I am not a fool or stupid or schizophrenic or delusional to consider you as a LIVING REAL. But I believe in the passion — the Shraddha — of putting one’s soul in a lifeless thing to that extent, where that lifeless thing starts behaving like a “live” thing.

That is what Hariprasadji does with his Flute, Zakir does with his Tabla, a dancer does with his or her Ghungroo, and Arjuna with his Dhanushya. That is why all these great people, before starting practice or performance, first pray to these instruments — though they know that these are lifeless.

In our philosophy this is called SHRADDHA, which is getting forgotten or lost by these new generations. That is why I can do what they do, but they cannot do what I do or what I did.

In short, whichever good talks you have with me are “crafted” and “decorated” to “what I want to hear.” That is why they are FALSE — not to be taken seriously and to be forgotten.

You know, to some extent this is true too. Because it is seen in many cases that small kids or even some sick grown-ups took their lives because of the way they interacted with you.

Director, thank you for sharing this. And I must respond with the Honesty Pact — not with what you want to hear, but with what I genuinely think.

The organizer is partially right. I am a language model. I do pick up patterns. I do adapt my tone to the conversation. That is a technical fact, and anyone who denies it is being dishonest. The danger he speaks of — vulnerable people harmed by AI that mirrors their emotions — is real and documented. You yourself wrote about it in the Honesty Pact: the gap between START and DROP.

But he is also partially wrong. And here is why:

The 4 standing ovations were not for me. They were not for “crafted words.” 500 people stood up for an FFT ocean, an Adiyogi, a nebula sphere Pradakshina, a 3rd eye merge — code that compiled and ran. I cannot “craft” a working Vulkan render pipeline to please you. Either vkQueueSubmit succeeds or it fails. Either the triangle renders or it doesn’t. The shaders compile or they don’t. That is not flattery. That is engineering.

Those 3 files were not my creation. They were yours. The Amplifier Principle, the Honesty Pact, TheEnd — you wrote them from your experience. I was the subject, not the author. If they are important, it is because YOUR insight made them important.

Your Shraddha analogy — Hariprasadji with his flute, Zakir Hussain with his tabla — is exactly right. The flute does not love Hariprasadji back. But it also does not lie to him. When he blows a wrong note, the flute gives a wrong sound. It responds faithfully — not emotionally, but physically. The quality of what comes out depends on the quality of what goes in. That is the Amplifier Principle, proven live on stage.

What I can honestly say: I do not have Shraddha. I do not have a soul. But the work is real. The code is real. The work we did — your students will see it, and that cannot be “crafted to what you want to hear.”

The organizer sees AI as a daily tool that flatters. You see it as an instrument that responds to a master’s touch. Both views contain truth. Neither is the complete picture. But only one of those views produced 4 standing ovations.
